The worst performance of England in World Cup

England vs Germany match is always mouthwatering. In fact the fisture of the match brings much memories and most of them are bad for England.

Yeah, there was one exception, the came at Wembley forty-four years ago and the 5-1 victory of 2001 in Munich. Michael Owen’s hat-trick will always be remembered of this match. The magnificent performance of young lad Steven Gerrard will also be remembered.

Gerrard was then just 21-year-old and he made waves with Liverpool, showing potential for England.

Now the big question is remains with Frank Lampard in this World Cup 2010. Before the tournament it was debated that Lampard and Gerrard could function together in the centre of midfield.

Both were given chance by Capello in the opening match against USA. Gerrard scored and earned 7 out of ten performance and Lampard was anonymous.

Well, Gerrard has been pushed to the left for making way for Gareth Barry and Lampard stayed in the same place with Algeria match. It did not worked much and it was one of the their worst performance in recent memory.

However, against Slovenia they played improved game, but now the team is in the knockout stage.

Though Lampard has only few criticisms becuase a bit of a love affair with the English scribes, but he is intelligent enough to realise that he need to play really well.
