Sepp Blatter takes U-turn, says FIFA will discuss use of t

Though officially Frank Lampard may not have scored against Germany, but he appears to have achieved the rare feat to shame Sepp Blatter for the need of change of policy.

As the 40,000 spectators at the Free State Stadium saw that a goal of Lampard was ignored, FIFA president Sepp Blatter two days later announced that he would be looking again at the issue of goal-line technology.

This move of Blatter was a surprising U-turn because of his long-standing and off-repeated resistance of making use of technology.

To a media briefing Blatter said on Tuesday that in response to Frank Lampard’s ghost goal along with the first goal of Argentina against Mexico on Sunday evening which was offside, the discussions over use of technology will be re-opened.

He said, “It is obvious that after the experience so far in this World Cup it would be a nonsense not to reopen the file of technology at the business meeting of the International FA Board in July.”
