Firstly, sorry for the lack of updates, I’ve been skiing for a week! Anyway, returned home just in time to watch Chelsea FC take on Everton. The game started off pretty dull, that was at least, until the 35th minute when John Terry was sent off after a high lunge on Leon Osman. The ref, Phil Dowd, thought it worthy of a straight red and I guess he did have a point, it WAS a dangerous tackle. Having said that, it did look like a genuine attempt to win the ball.
It didn’t go to well with the ref after that. Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Michael Ballack all got cards for dissent. They looked less and less likely to score as the match went on, but it seemed the game was heading for a draw. That was, until, the last 25 minutes of the game, where Everton received some sort of boost and went for the win.
Fortunately, Cech was on top form yet again. On the 84th minute, Osman took a shot from point-blank range. Cech scrambled to hold on, Steven Pienaar bundled the ball FROM HIS HANDS into the net and the goal was disallowed. If the ref had given that, Chelsea and Frank Lampard would have been raging!
All in all, mixed views from the game. It seems that the sending off changed the outcome of the game and it’s a real annoyance when that happens! Anyway, Liverpool stay top and Chelsea stay 2 points behind, going into Christmas.
