Lampard strikes England’s 500th goal

Lampard, the Chelsea midfielder, targeted 4-0 win over Slovakia. The 82nd minute strike of Frank Lampard was England’s 500th goal at the Wembley Stadium.

The former star of West Ham latched onto a Michael Carrick pass and had given a shot past the despairing Stefan Senecky in this goal of the Slovakians.

The initial time goal from Emile Heskey gave England a very good start, but this good start took until 70 mins for the home side to double the lead. Wayne Rooney converted a brilliant David Beckham cross.

Wayne Rooney struck once again. This time just into injury time to cement the win and the Man of the Match award. The Manchester United striker, this time, received a lovely pass from Lampard to take a touch onto his right foot and make the ball dink with his left foot from 6 yards out.

The bad luck for the England was that they had to replace three of their strikers. First Emile Heskey was replaced by Carlton Cole who in turn picked up a knock, and then he was replaced by substitute Peter Crouch who also came off after a challenge from Liverpool’s Martin Skrtel.

Darren Bent is off the field to provide some cover for Wednesday game against the Ukraine.
