Lampard says the opening goal build confidence to his side

Frank Lampard believes that in the match against Aston Villa in which the Blues beat the Villa, the opening goal gave confidence among the players.

He felt that the start of his side was not good and Aston Villa looked better of the two teams going in at half-time.

Well, the shot of Lampard midway through the second half was turned in by Didier Drogba. At last it was a victory of 3-0.

Lampard said to the media, “At half-time we said to each other we hadn’t even started yet.”

He added further, “The confidence came after the goal and we deserved it in the end.”

The pitch, however, was a major talking point and he felt that Wembley’s surface was problematic for both teams.

Lampard admitted, “The pitch looked decent, but it was very hard underneath… The [league and cup] double is still on, it’ll be very tough but we want to go all the way.”

The Blues still have the chance of retaining the title against either Tottenham or Porstmouth. The two team will face each other on Sunday at Wembley.
