Frank Lampard is well prepared to even sacrifice his attacking tendencies to ensure that he and Steven Gerrard both can work together in England’s midfield.
The Chelsea star played more disciplined holding role from the time Fabio Capello took charge of the national team fifteen months ago.
Gerrard was allowed to do more of the attacking, although he was told to play out of position on the left wing in his last international appearances against the Belarus and Kazakhstan.
Sven-Goran Eriksson and Steve McClaren, who took charge after Fabio Capello, both was not able to find a way of utilising the pair but Frank Lampard insists the Italian has found the key.
Frank Lampard said, “The way Capello works is very authoritative. Other managers will sit you down and ask how this or that is going, whereas he will just tell us how we’re going to do it.”
He also said that he is playing a different role. It is much more of a holding position, while Steven has been asked to play more on the left and it has worked.
