The midfielder of Chelsea, Michael Ballack, is astonished about Lampard because he has not been shortlisted for the PFA player of the year award.
England international had set up the two goals as Chelsea defeated Arsenal at Wembley on Saturday and reached the FA Cup final and was also inspirational in their dramatic 4-4 draw with the Liverpool that also saw Chelsea progress to the semi-final of the Champions League yet Ballack was stunned by his absence from the nominations of the word.
He said, “Frank has played consistently at a high level all season. I don’t know why he was not nominated but at Chelsea we know how good he is and that is all that matters.”
The team Chelsea did suffer a slump in form in the beginning of 2009 and the Chelsea coach Luiz Felipe Scolari was then sacked.
But the form of the team transformed under interim coach Guus Hiddink and Frank Lampard played a key role in a successful run that has seen the club to lose only once.
