Frank Lampard got harnia injury. Carlo Ancelotti admits it. The injury takes the shine off the perfect start of Chelsea to their defence of the Premier League title.
On Saturday, the side of Ancelotti recorded third successive victory. The first half goal by Florent Malouda and the 77th minute penalty by Didier Drog.ba secured gave a 2-0 win against Stoke at Stamford Bridge.
Ancelotti awaits nervously for the title now after he discovered Lampard is going to have a successful hernia operation next week.
Lampard will also be missing the opening Euro 2012 qualifying games playing for England agianst Switzerland and Bulgaria after aggravating the problem on Saturday.
In the last game Lampard was substituted with 18 minutes remaining. Earlier, he had also failed to convert a 10th-minute penalty.
Ancelotti said, “He has a problem with a hernia. He had surgery on it 10 years ago and this week wasn’t very good. And in the game he didn’t feel very good again so I think this week the only solution is to have another operation.”
