In the Champions League matches additional referees will be introduced. For the next two seasons of it two extra officials will be there. This was ratified by FIFA at a meeting of the International Football Association Board in Cardiff. This step of FIFA has been taken as followup experiment of the Europa League last season. Extra pair of eyes will be given the charge to keep a close eye to each goalline.
These extra officials will be assisting the referee in the judgement of whether the ball crossed the line and infringemnets inside the penalty box.
If this arrangement was made in the World Cup, then surely the Frank Lampard would not have been denied of a goal against Germany in the match which England lost by 4-1.
The Cardiff meeting, however, did not had any discussion of implementing goalline technology, but FIFA had reiterated that in their annual meeting the issue will be discussed. The annual meeting is going to be held in October this year.
