Carlo Ancelotti defends Frank Lampard and Petr Cech

Ahead of the final on Tuesday of Champions League group game against the Apoel Nicosia, Carlo Ancelotti defended Petr Cech and Frank Lampard.

Petr Cech had a blame that he allowed Carlos Tevez to score Manchester City’s winner from a 25-yard free-kick in Saturday match in the Premier League.

Frank Lampard then felt guilty after missing his first penalty since September 2006. Shay Given saved his shot in the 83rd-minute attempt.

Carlo Ancelotti said, “This season, I think Cech did very well… I like him. He takes the responsibility and likes to come out and catch the ball in the box.”

Ancelotti also added that he could do better if someone ask him about the free-kick on Saturday. He continued that he think the goalkeeper has to stay on his post and if the player puts the ball over the wall and in then they have to congratulate the player.

He mentioned, “Even a good goalkeeper can make a mistake sometimes but this season Petr has been doing very well.”

Lampard’s side Chelsea have won the group and this may be the reason for Ancelotti to make some players rest against the Cypriots.

Captain John Terry may miss it due to his carrying of a knee injury from the City defeat.
